Being a contractor includes bidding jobs, negotiating contracts, budgeting, scheduling, ordering supplies, reading blues prints, laying out plans, managing subs., and hopefully completing projects on time. If all that sounds stressful that is because it is. If one little thing goes wrong it all trickles down, delaying the project. One box of screws can grind everything to a halt so you have to be very organized or you have 5 guys standing around costing you $100.00 an hour. If you have strong communication skills and can delegate the work that needs to be done this career may be good for you. It does challenge you and change every day. You will often be outside or driving around which if you ask me beats the heck out of sitting in a cubical.
